Title Tag

The importance of the title tag cannot be overestimated.

The most common error we see when reviewing websites to maximize their visibility in the search engines is the lack of appropriate Title tags.

The Title Tag is a well known familiar HTML tag used to give a brief description about the page being viwed. It commonly appears in the top of the browser window frame, and summates the information on the page. This is why the title tag has become such an important element in best practice web design.

The Title Tag should be brief, only several words longs. Every word dilutes the value of every other word so choose your title tags carefully.

Briefly:

1) Create a unique Title Tag for every page of your website
2) Make sure that the Title Tag expresses a summation of the pages content
3) Optimally a page can only be optimized for one thing, therefore be concise, only a few words are needed.
4) A good example is what are you selling on that page and where, for example:
Widgets Scottsdale Arizona
is a very reasonable Title Tag

The search engine robots will read these tags and through other correlations infer the relevance of that page and will give you the best chance at respectable rankings on search engine queries based upon the best practice use of the Title Tag.
